Help Me, Aqua PT!

So, you may have done old fashioned physical therapy (PT) where some sweaty guy had to move your limbs against your will hurting (read:”helping”) you on your way to recovery.

This probably turned you off completely from the mere thought of re-entering another PT routine, and made you terrified of getting injured ever again.

Maybe you’ve even tried to workout, or do modified workouts, prescribed by your coach to keep you conditioned while you’re benched. These are often ineffective, painful, and lonely workouts.

So what is an injured athlete to do?

Why Aqua PT is Different

Okay, I️ know what you’re thinking... (well actually I don’t because I’m not psychic but just play along dude it’s about context!) how is splashing around in a pool going to help me get out of a sling?

It’s Not.

First off, it’s not always going to be the best solution for you.

You need to be evaluated by a professional before you can begin an aqua physical therapy recovery plan. And, if you have a more serious injury such as a broken bone, or concussion - this isn’t the best idea.

Wait, so who is this for?

Aquatic PT is usually best applied to athletes sustaining minor sprains, pulled muscles, and even joint pain or damage. It’s also great if you’ve ever had to have surgery for your injuries and need a low-impact way to workout and stay conditioned.

This won’t strain your joints as much as a traditional workout routine and you’ll still be able to get some beneficial resistance training under your belt!

But I’ve tried other methods, why is this best?

Aqua PT usually appeals to most athletes because it’s cost-effective, less invasive, and can be done without assistance after you’ve completed a full recovery regimen.

Instead of paying a PT specialist with a booked schedule and 30 mins to train you (or move you until you cry a little) aqua PT really only requires you to get a swimsuit and find a pool. Our PT coaches also offer free consultations so that you know exactly how long you need to complete a full routine.

Aqua PT is also less invasive. A PT specialist is guiding you from the pool deck, as opposed to being up close and personal with you.

You can also take what you’ve learned at aqua PT and do it anywhere else by yourself once completed. Is your shoulder acting up again? Swing by your local gym or pool to work out the muscle for a bit.

Happy healing!
